Forevermore | Play

This project finds its conception in the sacred spaces over a thirteen years exploring different types of meditative states since 2008 was in a exploration of raja yoga, transcendental, sound frequencies, having immersive bath experiences Hamams in Turkey, Temazcal rituals with Shamans in Mexico and deepest silent retreats in Vipassana centre in UK. These spaces, the sensations and epiphanies provoked by their purifying experience inspired this installation.

This project works within a framework of equality and empowerment for the social collective, interrogating the position of mind and body in society. Forevermore I Play seeks to provoke new, intuitive knowledge at an individual level for the collective that is our society. It proposes new means of producing work that is not only aesthetically and intellectually stimulating, but hopes to bring some form of healing, awakening to creativity and raise up our voices, the work having properties that actively contribute to the well-being of those that participate within the installation. The current state of the world has reached a critical point in which new modes of existing must be proposed. Forevermore I Play hopes to transcend this society so that the individual and the collective feel renewed and inspired in a New Era.

The installation is a multi-sensory interactive experience in which the spectator- participant has all their senses activated to engage their conscious and subconscious minds. Senses are stimulated immediately upon entering the space with five projections, welcomed by a comforting warmth, circular middle shape, a familiar and sweet fragrance as pulsations vibrate and light envelops the space in a kind of return to the womb. One is overwhelmed by a child-like desire to explore, to touch, to feel the space which greets and subsequently encloses around in an otherworldly state of being.

Here, sound, that is experienced as reverberating tones, vocal mantra and frequency vibrations, resonate throughout the space being originated at specific points within a space to produce a sonic geometry through 16th multi-channels that is active and changing depending on where the participant stands or moves to produce a multiplicity of hearings - as though an aural sculpture, that one may move around and hear rather than see. These sounds resonate also throughout the body as healing frequencies that aid in to an uplifting and deep trance of mind. Light is activated as visual projections of abstract, astral forms and colour enveloping the entirety of the space, refracted and multiplied in an infinite way being projected on space. Scent permeates the space in an ethereal blend, providing an aromatherapeutic effect. Here, sensuality is employed to guide one via the senses to a state of mind that allows them to explore the breadth of their consciousness and achieve higher heights of it. The installation delineates aesthetics, creating a visible and invisible language through its implementing audiovisuals that are active and mutable, creating an immersive experience that is deeply personal.

Beyond the visual language of the installation, this space, this “womb” seeks to re-energise and renew its inhabitant, repairing connections lost between their mind, body and animus in this ever-shifting world where stillness is considered inimical to the necessities of motion and production. As the audiovisuals guide the inhabitant towards its natural conclusion, one is left with a profound transformation; a harmony between their conscious and subconscious states, awakened rebirth.

This installation is open to everyone who wishes to transform themselves and re/engage their conscious and subconscious minds and body. The installation provides an immersive and accessible experience, all senses are engaged in the space thereby any person with any ability has access to the experience so that they may enjoy it and its healing properties, raising up our voice. This is also highly recommended for young people so that they become aware of their own unique potential. Five people are allowed to enter and find their own space to play. After 60” minutes, they leave restored mentally and physically, with a light sensation in the body, an awakening of creativity, confidence and purpose. These results begin from the first session, being recommended to continue this practice daily for 30 days. As an extension to the installation, the creation of an app would allow the participant to continue with this practice at their discretion, being able to experience whenever they may need.

The movement of the sound was designed to surround the space crossing lines from of wall to another. It all generates a Octo Star Tetrahedron a platonic solid the basis of Sacred Geometry which represents light, spirit, body. Feminine and masculine all in one same body, a crystalline field of information that is resonantly linked with each cell of the physical body, the connection in between the physical and ethereal bodies allow us to see the psychological patterns and programs.

About Andree Martis

Andree Martis is a Portuguese - London based audio visual artist, composer and sound designer exploring the relationship of body, mind, space and perception being intimate, transformative and revelatory to her audience. She achieved Master's Sonic Arts at Goldsmiths University of London. Working with multichannel ambisonics sound systems, modular synth, generative music, ambient/electronic, experimental, field record and ASMR. Her installations are deeply immersive-interactive through the senses with vibrant visual projections in space being produced within a fusion of analog video/photography and digital generative visuals.

Working within a multidisciplinary framework, Martis creates sensorially immersive experiences engaged in processes of attunement, awakening the senses, where our voice can be heard and become visible, creating an authentic natural consciousness process to raising up creativity and self-healing. Martis’ work is conceived through a superlunary feminine gaze. Within the structured space, which both synthesises and reconciles science, spirituality, ecology and technology, one does not simply have experience enacted upon them, but are catalytic in these processes inducing a synergy between them and herself to, as she asserts, “elevate the mind, body and soul” as an expansion of states of consciousness.
