In 2018 he published Messiaen’s ‘Catalogue d’oiseaux’, From Conception to Performance (CUP), co-authored with Peter Hill, and he was artistic advisor to the Royal Academy of Music for their Messiaen centenary celebrations in 2008. He is currently recording the Catalogue book by book for the Divine Art label, alongside thematically-linked repertoire. He teaches at the Academy and was made Reader of the University of London in 2013.
Clare O’Connell specialises in contemporary chamber music, composer collaboration and curating projects, including her own concert series, Behind the Mirror. During lockdown she wrote, arranged, recorded and produced her debut solo album The Isolated Cellist released by Stone Records in April 2021, a deeply personal collection of ancient & modern music for solo and layered cello gathered to perform to her local community. She studied Ancient & Modern History at Wadham College, Oxford, followed by postgraduate study at the Royal College of Music & the Hochshule für Künste in Bremen, Germany with internationally acclaimed cellist and teacher Alexander Baillie.
Sarah O’Flynn pursues a demanding and varied career as performer and educator. She has been sub principal flute in Britten Sinfonia since 2006, and is a founding member of the chamber group Chroma. Sarah has premiered innumerable works and commissions, often working in close collaboration with the composer. She has particularly enjoyed ongoing projects with Tom Ades, Oliver Knussen, James Macmillan and Steve Reich. For many years, Sarah was a member of The Marais Ensemble who curated an extensive annual chamber music festival in her hometown of Potton, Bedfordshire, including a broad outreach programme.
